Time Flies and Babies Grow

February 20, 2014 in about sapling, schedule, what's new?

In the fall of 2013, I was presented with the opportunity to teach children’s “Nava” yoga at the beautiful Mindful Movements Studio in Belleville.  Have you been there?  If you like yoga, pilates, saunas, GTS machines, Real Ryder bikes, thai yoga massage and places that smell amazing, you should really check it out.  www.mindfulmovements.ca

Starfish class is for babies.  Little babies – brand new ones, little guys who are learning to crawl, a walker with their favourite grown-up.  We snuggle, we laugh, we grow together.  Over the course of the eight week series, our participants show off their rolling over, crawling and downward dogging skills.   It is the greatest half hour of the week.

Big and Small class is for school age kids and a grown-up.  We practice partner poses, balancing, we are all the teacher and I am especially the student.  There is nothing sweeter than watching an adult and child partner yoga team snuggle in for savasana.  Sometimes I wonder how many people would be receptive in say, an adult vinyasa class if at the end of class, the teacher said, “now feel free to get on a mat with the person you came with or if there’s someone you want to get close to.  Just snuggle in for savasana.”  I imagine all of these sweaty adult bodies jammed onto mats together.  Spend five minutes observing Big and Small savasana and you might see the value in it.

There’s lots more going on – classes for all age groups including pre-natal.  See above for the web-site.  Talk to Kym about coming into the studio to check out a class.

Sapling Yoga specializes is children’s yoga but classes are available for adults (of all ages) as well.  Have a specific need?  Let’s talk.

Sapling Yoga does birthday parties, too.  It’s a great theme for a child’s party and makes for a party with minimal waste and shopping.  It’s all about simplicity.  I can even help you source mats as a giveaway for the party-goers.

Remember, yoga’s not all.  Sapling yoga has a mobile Reiki practice – have table, will travel.  We can do private meditation and relaxation with a combination of yoga, meditation and Reiki.

Fall Saplings

September 2, 2013 in about sapling

Hello All,

The leaves are not upset that they are leaving the branches.  It’s back to school time and what better way to laugh, stretch, and release stress than yoga?

Children’s yoga is a peaceful, fun, non-competitive way for children to stretch, grow and laugh.
They should dress comfortably and bring water to drink. Mats, music and hugs are provided.
This is great for children of all shapes and sizes and all levels of ability. Yoga is a great way to channel extra energy and calm anxiety.

Sapling Yoga classes are available to children of all ages, as well as seniors, beginner adults and everyone in between.  Classes can be modified for people who would like to remain in a chair during class as well.

Here’s the fall schedule (so far):

Tuesday evenings for eight weeks at Pachamama’s Centre for the Healing Arts at 409B Dundas Street West (Formerly By the Moon).
